Coffee Shop Stories - In Need Of Comfort

If you ever had GMRC in school, you would know that etiquette still exists in this world of ours. Etiquette may be an outmoded term, but it’s still very much relevant. In this second part of my coffee shop observations, I’d like to talk about the usage of the restroom in coffee shops. Included here are some of my rules on how to use them. Granted, it may not be much to look at. Some shops don’t even have them, and you’d have to walk a distance to get to one (I’m looking at you, I.T. Park). Still, I believe the following rules still apply: First rule: Fall in line properly and discreetly. Pretty basic, yes? With so many people frequenting coffee shops regularly, the lines do get long. Sometimes I feel it resembles an ATM machine, a passport renewal queue, an NBI clearance line, or an interview at the US Embassy. When you do fall in line, first make sure the door is locked. You could be the first of 6 people lining up when there’s nobody inside. It will save you time and embaras...

Psalm 23

What's nice about staying at an airport is the sense of quietness and solitude while waiting for your flight. I write this at 4am, waiting for my trip to Davao. Before heading out to the noise and activities of the day, I've spent time reading the Word, and the assurance of Psalm 23. It is a common psalm, and it is the most popular among all the Psalms in the Bible. It talks about putting your life, busy schedule, emotions and thoughts in the arms and assurance of the Shepherd who watches over us all. The Lord is my Shepherd, I lack nothing; He makes me lie down in green pastures, He leads me beside quiet waters, he refreshes my soul. He guides me along the right paths for his name's sake. Even though I walk through the darkest valley, I will fear no evil, for you are with me. Your rod and your staff, they comfort me. You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies. You anoint my head with oil, my cup overflows. Surely your goodness and love will follow me all t...

Six Words

Ernest Hemingway was said to have written a six word novel, complete with beginning, middle and ending. It's pretty succinct, and straight to the point. On its own you can have a full back story for this. For Sale. Baby shoes. Never worn. Pretty heavy stuff, and does challenge the mind to come up with something like it. It would be nice to tweet like this, concising 140 characters into 6 meaningful words: Stuck at work, boss is gone. Woke up late, harassed, but happy. Date tonight, please don't screw up. Car fender, meet best friend's car. Introduced girl friends. Not on purpose. Any more?

Disappear

Hey everybody, the : re's a calm before the storm of the day. Before the busy day commences though, I'd like to share this song for the morning from Jars Of Clay, entitled "Disappear." Click the link here , lyrics below I watch you smile, you steal the show. You take a bow, the curtain falls in front of you. You're magical, on display. I gaze into your eyes, and you turn to look the other way. But I'd really love to know. I'd really love to climb my way into your heart and see what I could find. I'd walk into your skin, swim through your veins. See it from your eyes. Cause I'd really love to try, yeah. Standing still but in my mind, trying to escape. Looking for a place to hide. It's not safe but I'm so near. Invading every place you go to disappear. I'd really love to know. I'd really love to climb my way into your heart, and see what I could find. I'd walk into your skin, swim through your veins. See it from your eyes. I'...

Two Words

The hash tag #3words was trending the past week on Twitter. It was basically coming up with a 3 word phrase on everything and anything. I've heard this particular game on the radio, entitled "Triple Threat," with the same concept. This occurred to me a while ago: how about a 2 word phrase? You can't make up a lot of sentences with 2 words, but these would be phrases that have made an impact to you. Mention them at any stage in your life, and they can tell your story. In principle, the phrases are endless, and would be personal. In that regard, I've got some phrases that have been relevant to me in many stages of my life. When I hear these phrases, I can remember exactly why these are important, the stories behind them, and why they matter to me. So, what's yours? family computer sleep now sleep later don't go black eye minus one nylon guitar electric guitar course card big mac french fries tinolang manok music ministry Holy Bible born again graduat...
