Song for the Day - August 30

Had the chorus of this song stuck in my head the whole afternoon. Thank goodness for Google, and I was finally able to find this song. It's "Amazing" by Josh Kelley. Click the link here . Great sunset music, and lovely to sing with and to somebody.

Running Diary: United-Arsenal

And we are at Old Trafford today as United take on Arsenal for this Premier League game. It has been a tough start to the season for Arsenal having not scored any goals starting this game. In their first two games of the season, they have drawn 0-0 and lost 0-2. Pressure is on for Arsene Wenger minus Cesc Fabregas and Samir Nasri. United are flying high, having won their first two games of the season. Despite the young age of the defenders and goalkeeper David De Gea, the forward line combination of Rooney, Welbeck, Young and Nani (plus Giggs, Berbatov and Hernandez in reserve) continue to dazzle. Lineups for the teams: United – De Gea, Evans, Jones, Evra, Smalling, Anderson, Cleverley, Young, Nani, Rooney, Welbeck Arsenal – Szczesny, Koscielny, Djourou, Traore, Jenkinson, Ramsey, Coquelin, Arshavin, Walcott, Van Persie, Rosicky 2’ – Who are these guys playing for Arsenal? No Fabregas, no Nasri… what gives? 3’ – United starting well, Nani with the weighted pass to Smalling. C...

Coffee Shop Observations vol. 1

This blog is the initial piece of a series of blogs about the coffee shop environment. Coffee shops have become a part of our daily lives, and we can't seem to live without going to one. I have heard stories of people using these shops as their second home while studying, doing thesis, working etc. This also doesn't those who go to the coffeeshop to drink or socialize. I'll be tackling these personalities and social classes as we go along. For today, I'll start off with: The Laptop/Ipad User This has become the majority population of those who stay in a coffee shop. The User is usually a Sales Rep for some company. The User would have either just came from a sales call, or is about to meet one. He/she would need time in a coffee shop to check email and prepare reports or presentations. So why go back to the office, and just spend time doing it in a shop? The User doesn't just barge into the shop to order and put his bag down. The User has mastered this into ...

Today's Music - August 16

Woke up today in a good mood, dunno why. I guess it's because I had upbeat music to start my day, which was a very, very, damn-it's-only-11am?! kind of day. This song by Minus The Bear (My Time) captured my mood today. It's upbeat, infectious, clearly scandalous with its lyrics. I've been playing this tune the whole day and I'm listening it now while blogging. In the afternoon it rained like crazy, so I put in music from Trapt ( Lost Realist ) and Trading Yesterday ( One Day ). Channeling my K-Lite music phase (when they were the only radio station putting up music like this), at that time of the day when it was raining and I was in sentimental mode (the effect of talking about a breakup that happened 1 year ago... 1 year!). After a good run tonight, some late night music to keep me awake from work. I don't know if this classifies as wake-up music, but Under The Influence Of Giants' funky " Mama's Room " should give you ideas. Heads up ...

FA Community Shield - Running Diary

Decided to bring a little life back into the blog by doing a running diary, Bill Simmons-style for the Community Shield match between Manchester United and Manchester City. The FA Community Shield is the traditional opening match of the new Premier League season. It would usually pit the winner of the Premier League season (Man United) against the winner of the FA Cup (City). Man United are of course the cream of English football, with their 19 championship trophies. Manchester City meanwhile have used their funds and investments to get quality players. Kinda like the Heat in last year, minus the trophy. The fact that they play in the same city (and believe me, the rivalry of United and City is really something else, as this would highlight) would contribute to the excitement and passion. Didn't get to watch the first half hour, so this blog begins at the 30 minute mark. Hard to compete with one TV and there's MasterChef and the PBA finals also. There really should be cueing ...
