A Funky Kind Of Blog

This is really Simon McMenemy’s fault. It’s his fault that I had to follow his twitter handle, and that her avatar and twitter name had to come out on “People to Follow.” I saw that she looked cute and must like football, too. So I followed her. No activity was done from my end for the next two weeks (I swear, it was two weeks, no stalking involved. Except for that one time about Anne Curtis.). It’s funny though how one innocent question posted on Twitter can lead to so much in the last four months. A question posted on the schedule of the Community Shield lead me to reply, then lead to comments about the game. After the game, it turned to tweets  about music. Turned out that she is a singer, and a passionate lover of music and the arts. I thought that she was somebody special, and worth gettting to know more. So I thought of saying something as simple as tweeting and texting “Good morning, beautiful.” I didn’t expect that it would make such an impact to her, and ...

Coffee Shop Stories - The Groups

This particular post dwells on the phenomenon known as the “barkada.” We all know that the word is the Filipino term for a collective group of friends, and the social interaction that coffee offers brings the barkada closer. I’ve seen this up front, and have been part of a group countless times already. By my limited powers of observation, I’ve tried to classify the coffee shop barkada into the following: 1.) The Sales Meeting group – These guys would bring all their laptops and occupy one half of the floor with their gear for a “meeting” that lasts the whole day, and they use up all the power outlets. If this group is here for work, their cousins aren’t… 2.) The Slackers – When I was still on the field, this was the most convenient way to get out of the work (still is, actually). It won’t be surprising to see a group of Med Reps assigned to different areas, er, meeting up. I’ll have to say, I would do that before, calling my team to a CBTL to meet up because being in the...

3am interim blog

Hey everybody, it's good to be back. It has been a hectic two months since I last blogged. I remember blogging my last article in Cebu, at Coffee Bean Ayala, no less. I started this blog in the comfort of M/V Ma. Matilde of Montenegro Shipping. The Road Warrior was on the way back to Batangas from Odiongan, Romblon. If you have a queasy stomach, this ship's definitely not for you. If your stomach can handle the roller coaster waves, then welcome aboard. Now staying at the Traveller's Hotel for 6 hours, I have to be out on the road by 9:30. It has been a hectic and fun two months, to say the least. I've had to deal with a lot of work and its challenges. Not easy when you've had two bosses in two months, and reporting to 3 different people at different functional levels. I have been doing a lot of travelling having gone to Cagayan, Davao, Iloilo, Batangas and now Odiongan in the past two months. It's been fun and challenging. I have been blessed and thankful to fi...
